Orphan's Thanksgiving

The proposed meetup thread sort of stalled, but if anyone's free and would like to join my lovely non-mefi partner and I for a kick-ass Thanksgiving dinner that can't be beat, come on by. We're cooking even if no one can make it, so no party size is too small. [more inside]

Straysgiving Louisville

Hello Louisville peeps. I assume most of you have nearish family/friends to hang with on this upcoming holiday, but in case you don't: Greg Nog and I are hosting a Straysgiving at our place on Thanksgiving Day. We will cook everything and it will be delicious and also we have lots of boardgames and Bob's Burgers Thanksgiving songs and all you have to do is bring yourself and your appetite (for destruction). If there is any interest, I will follow up with our address (the currently-listed address is just for Shelby Park, our lovely neighborhood).

The pre-post-Thanksgiving post-Thanksgiving meetup

I'm thinking I, and probably others, would enjoy an immediate post-Thanksgiving meet-up, to do some social stretching for those of us cooped up the days prior. [more inside]

Thanksgiving! A! Pageant!

Thanksgiving! A! Pageant! is a pageant (about Thanksgiving). Join such luminaries as Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, and Jesus the Christ as they tell the story of the first meeting between the godly Pilgrims and those wacky Natives (who didn't even speak English!). Featuring songs, Squanto, Dutch punk teenagers, King James I of England, a dream ballet, and more, this is the real story of how America became... America. But you know like AMERICA. One night only, Thursday, November 29th, 8pm at Ars Nova. Here is a thing to click to get tickets, which are $12, and which are totally worth it, I swear. [more inside]

Thanksgiving! A! Pageant!

A ridiculously silly show in the style of your standard elementary school Thanksgiving Pageant, but will all the smallpox and religious intolerance added back in, plus really stupid jokes. Like, I mean, e.g. Miles Standish is never clearly standing or sitting. So. There's that. November 20-23! [more inside]

Thanksgiving potluck for PDX "orphans"

I don't have family nearby - but I won't let a little thing like that ruin a perfect excuse to cook a big ol' turkey! Any other MeFites who don't have Thanksgiving plans and want to do a potluck feast are welcome to join me on Saturday Nov. 26th. EDIT: Time changed to avoid a Civil War-like conflict. [more inside]

Thanksgiving dinner potluck for PDX "orphans"

I figure since I consider Thanksgiving to be a great excuse for me to go nuts cooking anyway, I'd see if there are any local Mefites who are - like me - at loose ends family-wise and have no other plans for Turkey Day. My apartment can probably accommodate about 8 people comfortably, but if the response is greater than that and someone has the means (and willingness) to host a larger gathering, that's cool too. We can figure out the exact logistics and time but what I had in mind was an afternoon+early evening potluck sort of thing.
