Hi there! As I mentioned in this question I'll be visiting Charlotte on the 21st and 22nd. I'd love to meet some of you guys too! I'll be staying at the update: Westin, so anything get-to-able from there would be ideal, though I could cab it if there is something really awesome, but far away. Sunday afternoon was mentioned as a convenient time, but I'm there solo for the whole weekend, so I could conceivably hang out with some of you at one time and others later. Suggestions for locations for this are more than welcome!

Lincoln-Omaha Nebraska meetup?

I know there are a few other Nebraskans out there (I saw the Michael Forsberg post!) so I was wondering if anybody in the general Lincoln-Omaha area might be up for a meetup? So, I have not planned out anything more specific than, "It would be cool to meet up with some local Mefites." I'm in Lincoln. The only local I was aware of was Bunny Ultramod, who is down with doing something in Omaha. So this is a call - anybody interested in doing something? I am Omaha-ignorant, so I don't know where the cool places to hang out/get a drink/play boardgames/be chill are, but perhaps someone else has a good idea. Maybe another time we could do a Lincoln meetup. I'd be willing to drive a few people to Omaha if transportation was an issue. Anybody interested?

Good Mefites of London: last year when I visited London, and only gave myself three days, I said "I should come back next year and stay a bit longer." This year, I am indeed doing that (from 27 May to 2 June); it has been proposed we start with cocktails here, and then a meal after. We'd be going on to Gem for dinner; there is another plan afoot to start things off at the London Canal Museum before this as well (link to its own thread).

PDX harvest fest/potluck

I know several of us grow vegetable gardens. Is there any interest in an autumnal harvest-themed food meetup? Not sure what the best month would be; wouldn't necessarily have to be at the very end of autumn. Take some foodstuffs you've grown and either bring it raw or as (part of) a dish of some kind.

Pittsburgh Mefite Meetup

Hello, Metafilter Pittsburgh! I have recently moved back to the city and would love to hold a meetup next weekend. I am open to locations but would rather do a bar than dinner. Somewhere around the Lawrenceville/Garfield/Bloomfield/Friendship/Shadyside area is great, Carson St. less so. I have no idea how many here in Pgh are interested so that will determine the venue. If we have it next weekend, HotPatatta will likely be around as well! I'd love some input as to date/time/location.

Madison! Let's ~~figure something out~~ go to the Hilldale Great Dane on January 29th for dinner and drinks! Here are a couple of [future] possibilities; I'm pretty broke right now so free/cheap is my preference, but I know not everyone loves being outside in winter, and anyway it seems pitchers are traditional for both Wisconsin and MeFi. Other/better/cooler ideas are most definitely welcome. Outdoorsy: skating/"hockey" at Tenney Park, bicycling Coffee: Ground Zero, Fair Trade on State, something farther westward? Drinks&food: downtown/Hilldale Great Dane, High Noon, Mickey's, Rathskeller (technically one guest/member, I believe) Misc: Hubbard Ave Diner in Middleton for delicious pie Opinions about days/times? I'll be in Washington DC for a little bit and would be game for a meetup on either the 14th, 15th or 16th. Interested? Evenings are better for me, it'd be cool to go for drinks or something. (Preferably in a place where conversation is actually possible, since Mefites have interesting delicious brains.)
