Vegetarian Dim Sum, Sunday, Nov. 18, Light at 2pm.
Description edited to reflect plans.

----------

My guidebook says there are some vegetarian-friendly dim sum options in Hong Kong, namely:
* Lock Cha Tea Shop, KS Lo Gallery, Hong Kong Park, Admiralty ($)
* Pure Veggie House (veg only), 3rd fl, Coda Plaza, 51 Garden Rd, Admiralty ($$)

Not dim sum but also sounds good:
* Dumpling Yuan, 98 Wellington St, Central ($)

Another option:
* Miu Gute Cheong Vegetarian Restaurant, 31 Ning Po St, Yau Ma Tei ($)

Can't do Sunday. I'm out on a hike to clean up after all the trail walkers this weekend!

The following weekend, perhaps?

I have Sundays reliably free and want to explore Hong Kong; dim sum is just a particular suggestion to organize a meetup around:)

I'd be able to make it this upcoming Sunday but have a lot of friends coming into HK the following Sunday and wouldn't be able to make it then. Keep me updated, sounds like a great way to spend Sunday afternoon!

Following weekend works for me. Let me know what you decide. Hopefully other people will weigh in soon. But I'm always down for dim sum or food for that matter.

I can do Saturday or Sunday afternoon :)

There's another vegetarian place in CWB, Gaia Veggie Shop I think, that does both Chinese and Western vegetarian. Food wont be enough for omnivores, but my vegan friends seem to enjoy it!

Let's try for this Sunday, and then we can do other dim sum weekends that asta can join in on, too? Time and place? Just as a completely arbitrary suggestion to get the discussion started: 12:30pm at either the Lock Cha Tea Shop or Miu Gute Cheong?

I did some research!

Miu Gute Cheong appears to be closed. I think this is the Open Rice page for the restaurant. The cuisine, street name, and district all match. I think the characters match the romanization too.

Open Rice page for Lock Cha.

Found a handful of other vegetarian dim sum options.

These two, Light and Choi Heung Tsai are both centrally located and near MTR exits, it seems.

I like Lock Cha and Light best out of these options. 12:30 this Sunday works for me...but FYI we may have to wait a while for a table. That's prime time for dim sum here in HK.

Let's go to Light or Choi Heung Tsai! Lock Cha seems touristy enough that I wouldn't be out of place going there on my own some time.

Would a different time be better? Folks said afternoon, but any time after 10:30 or later in the afternoon works for me.

Both are fine. I can do 2 pm onwards . I wanna say 1, but I'll be coming from NT. You guys can start earlier though; I don't mind following.

Light appears to have an all you can eat buffet that goes on from 12pm-3pm. We can do the a la carte option instead if people are less hungry.

I'm okay with both restaurants, since I have experience with neither I'm judging solely based on the pictures on OpenRice.

I see that the info for this Meetup has been changed to Light...are we a go for that restaurant then? And I'm guessing starting at around 2?

If that works for everyone, it sounds good to me!

Thanks for the bookstore suggestion too C^3 and onegoodthing! I found it with no difficulties (and a very nice though not cheap coffee shop on the bottom bookstore level: The Coffee Academics, 8/F; and apparently they have a larger location somewhere else in Causeway Bay).
