Meetup: Breaking News! Lukemeister to Visit H Town!

Over the last few weeks, the Houston metro area has been enjoying all sorts of parties, parades and other events (Mardi Gras Galveston, All Star Weekend, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, etc.), but now it's time for the main event that all these other festivities have been the precursor to. (Precursor of?)

The 1st Ever, Random Visit of Lukemeister! Yes, it's true! Astronomer, man-about-town, and bon vivant, Lukemeister*, will be visiting The Woodlands from 3/15-3/21. So of course we need to celebrate this event with food, spirits and frolicking! The date I personally prefer is 3/18, but Lukemeister is available the evenings of 3/15 thru 3/18, 3/20, and 3/21. Location has yet to be determined. He will be in The Woodlands, but will have a car and is willing to come to Houston. This will probably be easier than all of us trying to get to The Woodlands during rush hour, but we should probably keep it to someplace easy to find. So, location suggestions? Thoughts on the date? Meetup: A Feast

...time to circle the wagons, see friends you haven't seen in a while, let them know that they're important to you, and maybe even make new friends in the process. We've lost one of our own, and the best way to deal with that is to be together.

Let's get together and have a feast, at Feast (which is scheduled to close later this year). We've got some options for how to handle that - we can go on a Sunday afternoon for one of their "roasts" - which is a set $20 menu which includes a choice of entrees and dessert. Or we can go some evening and enjoy the full menu. But let's crowdsource the answer to that particular question and see how the collective feels about our options. (Personally, I'd favor the full menu. Feast's real magic is in its wild variety.) This will be a meetup where we need to make a reservation, so your RSVP will be appreciated.

Meetup: A Very Belated Quonsar

It's been a while since we've had a proper full Houston meetup. We had planned to do this closer to Quonsar, but real life got in the way, as it usually tends to do. The Maple Leaf Pub will be our hosts on Groundhog Day.

The variously-named Geeks Who Drink trivia team has been racking up prizes in the form of Maple Leaf Pub bar credit. We decided to save them up for our Quonsar party to help ring in the new year. We finally settled on a date and time that works: February 2 at 5 p.m. With no sportsball to compete with us early in the evening, 5 is a good time to stake our claim on the pub. Come join us for an evening of fun (P.S. the MLP has board games!)
