Meetup: April meetup in DC

Now that maybe, possibly, hopefully all that miserable cold weather is behind us, who feels like venturing out for a meetup? I was thinking a weekend afternoon meetup at the Board Room would be fun, but other ideas are welcome!

update: confirmed for the Board Room on Sunday, April 21 at 1:00.

Note: I just caught that the Board Room is 21 and over, with some possible flexibility if we ask nicely in advance. So if anyone under 21 wants to join, please let me know by the middle of next week.

Some MeFites were together last night and decided it was time to call a meetup on the east side of town, in particular at Tunnicliff's, which is relatively spacious, quiet, and near the metro. MrMoonPie suggested we meet around inauguration time. Perhaps a weeknight the week prior? The inauguration is on Monday, January 21.

Some DC MetaFilter folks who met last year via this AskMe aim to field a second human-powered trolley car parade float deal at the H Street Festival. Some details and pics from last year at atlasarmadadc.com

We should be pretty easy to spot and plan to move back and forth along the length of the festival all afternoon. Word is that we will be operating on the trolley tracks on the south side of H Street this year.

My new wave power-pop band is losing our co-frontman to employment on the other side of the country - this just as we managed to get a gig at the Black Cat, one of DC's finest. We're not going out quietly, with garage gods the Hall Monitors and Jake Starr and the Delicious Fullness rounding out the bill.

Come see my wife's new office/wedding space!

For those who haven't heard, my wife has quit working for the man and is now a full-time wedding officiant in DC. You've been there since the beginning. You helped my wife build a website and find places to perform marriages--now she has her own place, a sweet little chapel-esque wedding space near Dupont Circle. Drop in any time between 10 am and 10 pm. My wife will be performing small weddings throughout the day, so if her door is closed, hang out a minute--you can be the first to congratulate a happy couple! Champagne, macarons, and other consumables will be provided, and I'll be there after work, 6-ish and following. The landlord has indicated that he'll be getting the rest of the tenants in a party mood, so there should be a fun atmosphere.

Meetup: Assert MeFite prowess in a Pub Quiz!

I'm coming into town for two weeks JUST after the big planned meetup, but I hear that this is the first meetup you guys have had in a while and might be amenable to having another. It will no longer be at Nellie's as we expect it to not have trivia and be crowded anyhow. It will now be at the Argonaut on the H street corridor at the same time.

I was hoping we could try for prizes, and reducing our beer tab, on December 21st which seems to work best for folks. I'll be around early, drinking the cheaper happy hour beer and maybe eating something, wearing my MetaFilter T-shirt to catalyze aggregation. The game itself starts at 8.

My band Pueblo is playing at the Black Cat in DC! With a band I love, Dolfish. The live setup is a duo with me and a powerful drummer - who I've been playing with for a good quarter of my life. We've got quite a few new songs and such - some of which I've been posting on Metafilter Music and some others which are online - but it'll be great! Aaand, I'll buy you a drink if you can make it!

This is perhaps optimistic in the face of the onrushing holidays, but is there interest in a meetup on December 9th or 10th?

Update: The meetup will be on December 9th, 7:15 at The Getaway.

I was thinking somewhere in the Chinatown/Metro Center vicinity for maximum Metro coverage (Rocket Bar or RFD, maybe) but alternate suggestions are welcome!
