Meetup at The Mash Tun

This New Englander will have some free time in Portland next month and I've never met the local MeFites. After some discussion we've settled on talk and drinks and food at The Mash Tun Brewpub on Alberta. We'll start around 6pm and stay there until we feel the need to walk the block to Salt and Straw or somewhere else the locals suggest. See you soon!

There's a high probability that I'll be coming to Japan again. Dates are still being finalized, but it looks like I'll be in Tokyo the evening of November 8th. In the hopes that it becomes real, I'm creating a placeholder so that people can pencil the date in. [more inside]

Can I interest you in a Goat Frog?

I definitely need one. You probably do, too. By now, you know the drill and if you are not participating, you should be ashamed of yourself. Tiny beers and foodstuffs from the grill (free pickles!) at the Original Billy Goat Tavern, lower Michigan Avenue, starting at around 6:00pm. Then adjournment to the Frog for increasingly poor decisions and much awesome.

Does anyone want to go see any of these movies in particular? I saw that Los Angeles Plays Itself was scheduled and was primarily interested in that, but I'd be happy seeing any of these, really. So far, so lovely

So, I've arrived in Madison (thanks for all the helpful answers to my Ask!) and I was wondering if anyone wanted to have a meet-up over a beer or two. I don't have a time or place in mind but somewhere near the university would be most convienient for me. Date-wise I was thinking sometime in the next couple weeks. Update: Thursday, 18 September, 4:30, at The Mason (416 S Park Street). I'll update next Thursday with how you can recognize me.

Lunch on the 7th, Brooklyn?

Hello, MetaFilter! I'll be popping by Brooklyn from the 6th to the 11th of this month, and I wonder if anyone would care for a quick lunch meet-up (let's say on Sunday the 7th) with me, Mrs quidnunc and the quidnunc baby (him name: quark). Somewhere nice in Williamsburg or thereabouts may be easiest, and a pub is always an option if drunch is better than lunch. Or an afternoon cocktail or tea party, or whatever. Or feel free to tell me where to go, either literally or figuratively. [more inside]

Field trip: the Museum of Jurassic Technology

The Museum of Jurassic Technology in Culver City is a place that engenders love and and serious confusion, perhaps in equal measures. It is a palace of many mythical wonders and it was proposed as one of the next meetup locations. It's open until 6:00 PM on Saturdays; the cafe offers complimentary tea and cookies until 5:00. (It is also close to the Center for Land Use Interpretation, which is equally a palace of wonders if you like scholastic text and resource allocation.
