Edmonton's first ever meetup

I'm relatively new to Edmonton (been here 1.5 years) and it occurred to me I've yet to see a meetup proposed for our fair city. A quick search on MetaTalk suggests that there has never been a MeFi meetup in Edmonton. How can this be?! Let's change that...
After a quick discussion on IRL we've agreed to meet at Sugarbowl on Wednesday December 7th at 7pm. If you plan on attending please post here so I can get a somewhat accurate head count for the reservation.
Same here - I'd show up on any weeknight, and all of these locations sound great to me.

Those are all pretty decent options. I'm typically free on weeknights, although I occasionally have to work, so the more advanced the notice the better.
Beer or wine might be best, since social lubricants tend to help when meeting a bunch of strangers.

How about Sugarbowl, then? How does Thursday, December 8th at 7pm work for folks? Feel free to suggest alternate dates and times...

Early December makes sense to me. Once you start getting too late into December, people are a lot less available, so I'd go with the 8th (I'll confirm my own attendance once I have my work schedule for the month). If that doesn't work for people, then maybe jumping ahead to January would be best.

Another vote for Sugarbowl- I think it'll be close for many of us. I have almost no restriction on date.

I could likely do Wednesday the 7th. We'll need a reservation at Sugarbowl most likely as it's usually pretty busy there by 7pm. I'll switch my RSVP if something comes up between then and now.

Just a heads-up that the 7th is last day of classes at U of A, so the Bowl (and various other near-campus watering holes) might be extra busy.

Reservation made under my name (Karen) and also there should be a note that its for "MetaFilter". Currently for 6 people but if some of the maybes are leaning more towards attending I can bump up the reservation count a bit.

Argh, last minute business trip to Calgary means I might be late getting back into Edmonton tomorrow night. Can someone else volunteer to have their name on the reservation, and I will call and add it? I may not be able to get there until 8pm-ish now...

Okay, I am going to change the reservation to just be for "Metafilter." It's for 8 people. Whoever arrives first just go with it and grab our table. :)

Yeah, I was going to say: I don't think it actually matters whose name the reservation is under as long as someone is there on time to "claim" it.

Since we're talking about a sequel, I'm going to suggest Pub 1905. It is central (Jasper Ave) and it is a lot quieter than most pubs, so we might be able to have conversations that include more than just one half of the table (although, being seated in the middle meant that I could jump back and forth between both conversations, which was kind of nice).
