I thought that might be the case!! Kudos to whoever suggested that! It worked!
Ok, now move the event--my alerts are limited to events within 300 miles from whatever location I specified all those years ago. Probably someone else has theirs set up the same.
(Please pardon me if you're already completely aware of that!)

Ah, we're becoming "community owned" or "community operated". Nice, glad to see it!
What is this IRL event? I have a notification mechanism set up that tells me when an IRL event will happen near me. That's how I heard about the inaugural SC.
But, I still don't know what this event is. :)
