Edit: It's happening! We've got the date and time chosen I'll provide burgers and chicken and some sides (including a vegan gf thai rice noodle salad), maybe some sausages with peppers and onions if we get enough people coming. I'll have a base level of beer and wine and NA beverages. Chime in with whatever you'd like to bring (and no ones gonna shun store bought anything here).

I've got a big backyard, big gas grill and pizza oven, access to cheap wine and beer, and my house is a five minute walk from the J train (10 minute walk from broadway junction A,C & L trains). I haven't hosted a meetup in years and figure it's time to put some faces behind the usernames again. The weekend of Sept. 14th or 21st either day either weekend works for me, so weigh in on your preferred dates. I'd love to include some kind of fun activity for people to do, so any suggestions welcome on that front. Please post a comment if you think you can attend and let's make this happen! Edit: It looks like it's a go! Yay! I'll confirm a date and time right after Labor Day. I'm pretty sure my yard past the patio area is big enough for cornhole, as long as being on a slope doesn't matter. So, the last time I hosted a mefi potluck was, as stated, several years ago and it was a ton of fun. Are you all down for a potluck? We can theme it if you like (death of the Megathread theme dishes, weird stuff only my family ate that I would now like to subject others to dishes, I've been wanting to try making this dish and nows my excuse to give it a try and this is my first attempt so good luck guinea pigs, or something along those lines). Please keep suggestions for days, times, activities, themes (if we want one) flowing in! I don't have anything planned for the 14th or the 21st, so both would work for me, but I'd lean very slightly towards the 14th as I have tickets for a show the night of the 20th.

I believe either weekend would work for me. I'd vote not the evening (maybe late afternoon to spit the difference?) because a) I go to bed early and b) it'll take me a good hour and a half to get home. (On the other hand, I'm good at flaking on meetups, so maybe ignore me.)

1adam12 you're on potato salad duty. In addition to which I'll be providing burgers, some type of grilled chicken or fish, depending on how the fish looks that day, all the fixins necessary for these things, a vegan thai rice noodle salad, kale ceasar salad, mainly because I can't seem to get enough of it these days, some type of roast veg, maybe even a fancy pants melange of roast/grilled veg...I have a retro dessert in mind, aaaand I'm sure another thing or two once I start to seriously think about it. I posted an askme for a fun activity and if anyone here has any ideas I'm all ears. I'll post my exact address in the body of the OP on the day of so I can edit it out afterwards.

We've just shifted to maybe, as oh hey our shower decided to leak into the walls and that's not fun. (and also no showers which is terrible) but I hope everyone there has a spectacular time, and if we can make it, we will bring an olive oil cake. hopefully with figs, if I can find good figs tomorrow.

Oh yum, I've been tempted by figs everywhere this week(and by everywhere I mean Trader Joes and the local market). Here's what I've got in the works food wise: burgers, grilled chicken drums and thighs, mac and cheese, thai peanut salad, kale caesar salad, apple bread pudding, and pineapple lush cake. I also have emergency kielbasa if needed, and some nibbly things. Plus some wine and beer and fizzy drinks. Hope to see most of you tomorrow!

Is there anyone coming from Uptown/the Bronx in the afternoon who would like to join me for the long ride on the A train? (While I have an amazing talent for flaking on meetups if left to my own devices, I will not flake on you if I say I'll meet you.) I will probably join the store-bought and dessert-ish club. (Just watch everyone buy the same thing at Trader Joe's. I should be near TJ's tomorrow morning if anyone has suggestions.)

I wasn't able to get to the store last night to buy eggs -- I was planning to stop to pick up something (cheese? dessert?) from the Union Square farmers' market on my switch from the PATH to the subway, but my brother managed to forget some of his things in my apartment and needs me to bring them to him down in lower Manhattan before 3pm, so, I don't know what I'll be getting or from where, time will tell.
