Some meetups are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them ...

I’m in favor if I’m in town. It’s on the calendar. I’m inclined to barbecue and I will likely have kids in tow if that influences other kid-havers.

Hooray! We were hoping there would be something in Seattle while we were there! We're in.

Hey, we'll be in town then! I performed in Wooden O's production of Romeo and Juliet... geez, around 1996 or so!

AFAICT Volunteer Park doesn't have anything reservable, so a picnic-basket party is more certain than a picnic-table party. There is some hard space by the wading pools that would allow propane barbecues, don't know how early we'd have to arrive to be reasonably likely to fit in there. There is a lot of grass to sit on.

which is to say: I may or may not be able to attend: i have a hiking pickup of someone sometime that day, I'm not sure what time yet. But if I can I will. This is the best.

I attempted to go to a very early meetup, probably 2001 or 2002? And went to the wrong restaurant and because it was before smartphones and I didn't have anybody's number, I just wandered aimlessly around Fremont. Which is to say, it looks like I'm free, sounds like a good time, and I will try to be there!

I will arrange something peculiar and visible to make us easy to find.

Am beginning to worry about organizing this. Does it need organizing? Do we need to know who's bringing the potato salad and how many allergens we're avoiding? Are you all, actually, more or less adults and will bring food you like and eat food you like?

(I can bring such a plate of beans.)

I have been to cookouts that were accidentally just dips and things to dip in them, and may I just say, it is the wave of the future and not disappointing in the least.

(Which is to say: I don't mind throwing up a google spreadsheet where people can sign up, but also, honestly, I'm happy to just bring a dish, clearly labeled for ingredients.)

I will wander over for this :-) will be exciting to attend my first Seattle Mefi Meetup, though technically trans pride with Kalimac was my first Seattle Mefi Meetup. This will be "first Seattle Mefi Meetup with more than 2 people" I guess hahahaha.

Maybe so far as food goes, everyone can make sure to feed themselves and bring something shareable? That way there's no stress about whether people get fed. I have crazy food allergies, and I'm hoping no one gets offended if I mostly stick to my own food.

I have made a giant yellow

[+]

and may figure out how to hang it above head-height to identify us.

Also, am making trifle-components for dessert during the play (have been doing this for a while, other of my friends (not-yet-Mefites?) are coming). That's cake, I hope to make gluten free angel food cake, custard, cream, someone is bringing non-milk whipped topping, liqueur, and lots and lots of berries. All brought separately so people can pick n mix. If there's anything you think would go well with or among....

See you 5ish tomorrow

Wooden O's website says their performance of 12th is canceled tonight, but the incident report is for Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island. That's where they're scheduled to do Romeo and Juliet tonight, so I'm confident the show at Volunteer Park is still on.

That says the Luther Burbank performance has been cancelled because of a tragedy in that park -- we're meeting in Volunteer Park for a play that's still on the Wooden O schedule.

Yeah, it looks like they put the wrong play title in the announcement.

I’m not going to make this, too much going on. But I’m thrilled it’s happening and hope you all have an amazing time!

I might bounce before the play starts, but I'm on my way! (bringing sweetcorn and tomato salad :))

On my way with cheese, salami, apples and baguette.

We are well away from the stage - uphill in the shade of a tree. Picnic table. The above-mentioned yellow cross flying proudly.
