Sun January 20 at 4:00 PM, Women's Building
3543 18th St, San Francisco, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
rtha's memorial service will be held on Sunday January 20th, in the San Francisco Women's Building Auditorium, from 4-6 pm. After we will adjourn to Southpaw bar around the corner. Mefites are very welcome to attend -- I'd love to see you there.
It feels very strange to use IRL for this, but I wanted to let people know when her memorial would be. The Women's Building is on 18th Street between Valencia and Guerrero, walking distance from 16th St BART.

Here's a link to the fb event page

And here's the MeTa post.

rtha helped educate me on rthas when I moved to San Francisco and got to become neighbors with the hawks in GGP. I stupidly missed the opportunity to meet in person. I'll do my damnedest to join for this. Take good care of yourself in the meantime gingerbeer.

gingerbeer, I wish I could be there today. I'm thinking of you and rtha.

gingerbeer, I am so very sorry for your loss.

(And I am so glad you posted this there IRL, because I was having trouble finding the info in the other thread.)

I will be there, and I am so grateful that my work schedule allows me to attend. I so need to be around other Mefites to remember this very special Mefite.

I hope that today can provide you with some comfort, because I think it will help me.

I’ll be there! Couldn’t find my MeFi tshirt though. Anybody feel like making a MeFi sign to help us find each other? I’m enroute and haven’t got any sign-making materials.

I’ve scribbled a [+] on a steno pad.

I am the tall long haired beardo in a Menger sponge T-shirt, say hi even if I know you because my brain is half-fogged by the circumstances.

Where in the auditorium are you?

I’m with Jaybeans and mostlymartha, second from the back, far right, I don’t think the small sign will help.

The memorial service was beautiful. Turns out, marvelous, special, sparkling humans are mourned by other sparkling humans. I'm honored to have shared a few of life's chapters with Kanani. Gingerbeer, so much love to you.

We are at Southpaw now, which is absolutely packed because rtha’s friends like to drink too!

Sorry I wasn't able to stay for Southpaw -- it was a long drive back to Sonoma -- but I'm raising a drink in rtha's honor here. Love to everyone.

What a lovely memorial service, and so many wonderful stories were shared about rtha. What's striking is how many communities that she was an active or leading participant... Mefi was just one of many. She touched so many lives in such a profound way. The life she lived has inspired me to live a better, more community-based life.
Thanks again, gingerbeer and the other Mefites that I met at the memorial.

Thank you all for being there, and thanks to cortex for representing for The Internet at the memorial service. Sorry I didn't get to talk to many of you. I was pretty overwhelmed by the number of people there.
