London summer drinks - Walthamstow

Sat July 21 at 12:30 PM, Wildcard Brewery
Ravenswood Industrial Estate, Shernhall St, Walthamstow, London E17 9HQ, UK (Map & Directions)
UPDATE: Let's go for it. Walthamstow summer drinks on Saturday 21st July. (Changed from 14th because I was stupid).
Assuming the weather holds, let's go for drinks at the Ravenswood industrial estate in Walthamstow. It has a range of beverage purveyors, including Wildcard Brewery, Pillars Brewery, and Mother's Ruin Gin Palace, as well as the magical wonderland that is God's Own Junkyard.

It's a relatively short walk from Walthamstow Central or Walthamstow Queens Road and is just on the edge of the posh bit of Walthamstow, "the village".

If the weather turns and it looks rainy, there are plenty of other pubs around, like the Rose and Crown.

I suggest we try and get a table/space at Wildcard Brewery - you can bring drinks from the others over if, for example, you prefer a cocktail from mother's ruin. Given its a popular weekend hangout, I suggest an early start for those that are willing - 12.30pm? And stop when we stop.

I'm in, and a wander out to Walthamstow is fine at the weekend.

I'm in, if it's a weekend that I'm around (not the 21st or the 4th). Walthamstow is dandy!

Saturday 7th or 14th maybe?

We can call it a celebration of the improvement in MeFi finances.

We're at least sixty miles away, and only in London sporadically, but will keep an eye on this and certainly interested in meeting up with people in future.

I’d love to come—away on the 7th but around in London on the 14th.

The 7th or the 14th would work for me.

Ok, let's suggest 14th then. Early afternoon onwards so we can secure space?

They normally have food available and there are plenty of places that'll deliver if not. I'll edit this later or tomorrow with location etc.

Was up there yesterday for sunny boozing, funnily enough. Nice and convenient for me as a citizen of the 'Stow. Think I'm around that weekend. If so will pop along.

Sadly can't make that weekend, but really glad you proposed this. Have fun, all!

I'd love to come, though Walthamstow is not that close to where I am. Will give it my best shot though.

Erm, so awkwardly I just realised that the 14th is the day of the Walthamstow Garden Party (free festival) and I'm pre-booked for the day.

How would people feel about rearranging to the 21st? Or just go ahead without me!

I can't do the 21st. How about the 15th, if the various places are open on a Sunday?
posted by kelper at 2:21 PM on July 5, 2018

15th is feasible and these places are open, including the Garden Party.

*Coughs*

The 15th is World Cup Final day...

I mean, kick-off is at 4pm, so a lunchtime do would still work I suppose – but people might have plans.

Ah, definitely not the 15th, then. The 21st, then? I might still be able to make it, if I rearrange something.

Shall we give 21st a shot then?

I'll revise the event details and then you can laugh at me on the day for being a bad organiser.

The 21st should be OK for me (and is in fact good news for me as the 15th clashed with something else).

A mere 40 minutes away by 56 bus! In my calendar.

Ah sorry dudes, it's a friend's birthday that day, so I can't make it. Have fun!

I can do the 21st! Looking forward to it.

If we had done it today it would even have been media's birthday, bah. Oh well, we'll raise a glass to cats in scanners next week!

I'd love to have made it but I'm away that weekend!

Weather looks decent tomorrow at 24/25C, albeit positively chilly compared to our recent weather, so I'm still up for outside at Wildcard.

My finances are looking surprisingly good, so I'll be making a decision in the morning whether to make my way east. Looks nice at Ravenswood.

I should be there for 12.30

Likewise.

For the sake of anyone looking for us, l'm wearing this Melvins t-shirt.

I don't think I'm going to be able to make this after all, much to my chagrin. Have fun and see you next time!
posted by HandfulOfDust at 4:30 AM on July 21, 2018

I've arrived. There's nobody here yet, so we have the pick of the tables, hah.

Edit: I'm on a table just in front of the Wildcard bit, at the end with the main car park if you've come in from the Shernhall Street end

No worries. Another time!

Gorgeous day. Will jump in the shower quickly and then wander up. There in 45mins or so.

I'm about to leave. Should be there fairly soon as I'm local.

Sounds great. Sorry I didn't make it: I thought I'd get there too late.

Next time, when it's 1 pm and I haven't got my act together to go, I'll still get to town and jump on a train and see what happens.
