Families Belong Together Bay Area March

Sat June 30 at 9:45 AM, Dolores Park
Dolores St & 19th St, San Francisco, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
Join us in San Francisco to protest the Trump administration's human rights violations against immigrant families. March from Dolores Park to City Hall from 10 - 11 am. Maybe we can grab lunch afterward, just to make it a proper meetup - we can figure it out when we get there.
Assemble in Dolores Park around 9:45, so we can be ready to start marching at 10. Let's tentatively meet at the uppermost corner of the park, at Church and 20th near the J Church stop. I don't know the park well enough to suggest a better meeting spot - anybody have a suggestion?

East Bay peeps: you can take BART to Civic Center and then hop on Muni's J Church streetcar and get off right at Dolores Park. Going home, just get back on BART at Civic Center.

The march is sponsored by a whole bunch of groups including Indivisible SF (more info here)

There is a rally today, June 23, at Justin Herman Plaza at 10 am if anybody is interested.

I can't make today's, but I think I can do this one on the 30th. Thanks, Quietgal.

I will be there! My plan is to drive to the East Bay and BART from there, so I will do my best to get there on time but it may be a bit tight.

I am going.

I live a few blocks north of Dolores Park so I feel like I should be able to help with logistics or something. Or maybe it just means I will bring a bunch of bottles of water.

Thanks, mountmccabe, water's a good idea. The forecast for Saturday is sunny and pretty warm, so people might get thirsty. Remember to put on sunblock, y'all.

There's a thread in MetaTalk discussing ideas for signs, if anyone needs inspiration.

I've gotten messages from various sponsors of the march asking people to wear white (without any explanation, but I guess it's to make for good visuals). So wear white, maybe?

Can someone tell my out-of-SF-too-long self if I will need exact change for MUNI? Do I need to be carrying singles?
posted by lazuli at 7:20 AM on June 29, 2018

Change is not provided for people paying a cash fare. So yes, carrying singles and quarters is recommended.

The adult single ride cash fare on Muni is $2.75.

Another option is taking BART to the 16th St Mission station. Dolores Park is about a fifteen minute walk from there. It may end up being quicker, not having to wait for the transfer. I would also expect the J to be packed.

Ah yes, where nobody else will be! ;) FWIW I never see anybody standing around the pissoir.

I'm going to try to make it, but I'm sad to say that it's a bit early and my apt building has not been letting me catch up on my sleep lately.

Mag Plug and I are here. In the shady spot where everyone else is. I’m wearing a white shirt and a tan hat with a green ribbon

Thanks for coming down from the North Bay, CI and lazuli! Sorry we missed you, mountmccabe, but there are so many things to protest these days we'll surely have another chance to meet. See y'all at the next march!
