I'm moving to Stockholm!

Känna känna! I'm moving to Stockholm on January 20th. How about we put together a fika or something the last week of January? I'll be a bit south of the city but happy to travel for a meet up. Any interest?

O hai future Swede-to-be! Welcome to the land of knäckemacka and winter depressions! Irl mefimeetup sounds fun and scary and nice, I'd be interested ^^

Yay! I hope this time it will work out, we've had a dismal record of meetup attempts here. January is still within the range of new-year resolutions being upheld, so chances are good!

Perfect! I was talking to Eko who is new in Sweden so I will get hen into this thread as well. Fab!

I’m so happy people are into it! It’s also nice to be moving back to a country that uses hen! I am bringing a light box with me so I am ready for the gloom. Where should we meet? There is a thrift store with a coffee shop that I kind of like; I’m also a fan of fusty fika places with old furniture but they are pretty pricey. Also like Bio Rio at Hornstull. I’ll be coming from Bredäng; where’s everybody else located? What kind of place is good for a meet up?

Dee Grim, I just listened to A Legacy Denied. Really enjoyed it. Don't be scared. I bet everyone is nice in a good, not boring way. Personally, I'm a gregarious introvert. I like to meet new people, and I'm chatty but then I have to go home and curl up in a ball alone for several hours to recover.

Welcome to Stockholm then.
Would gladly partake in a meetup too.
its been a while - once we had one at my son’s restaurant - Babajan - its still there at Katarina Bangata 75 (www.babajan.com) but open for any other suggested venues as I cook the lunches there. can get anywhere on my electric bike unless there’s a half metre of snow.

End of January is a good time - Knut is past, and sportlov not yet on. Looking forward to meetup! May even start lurking regularly again :)

I am 100% in, only constraints are:
* My spouse is flying to Sweden on Jan 26th, she would be interested in a meetup but the first few days will be unpacking chaos
* We are an hour train from Stockholm so can't get there on a weeknight before 1830 and need to leave for home by 2130
By then I will have been three months in Sweden, will be good to hear everyone's experiences... thanks for getting this started!

Ok, It's starting to look like the last proposed meetups where it all start to just fade away before a date is even set :). We need a concrete suggestion, at least for a date to start with (deciding on a place is easier I think). anthill suggested a few days after the 26th, so a day in the beginning of February? Personally it doesn't matter if it's during the week or on a weekday.

Yeah, swedish-mefitest thread ever! Sounds like anthill (who I meant when I said eko, Jesus) is the one with the most variables that need to be maneuvered around, so I’m gonna ask hen to pick a few dates and times that work and we can link to a doodle for it.

I am gonna suggest we stay close enough to central station that anthill gets maximized hang-out time and no stress to and from train. If we’re meeting around six thirty then perhaps a place that serves food is a good idea. The floor is open for suggestions (unless people feel they’ll feed en route and we just hit a bar or café).

I will gladly throw out some dates, but no need to cater to me - I'm pretty keen and can make it work. Locations in Södermalm are also fine, biking/walking further is worth it for a cool place (thrift store with a coffee shop sounds neat!). I don't have a good sense of what opening hours to expect from places though...

How about (doodle poll):
* Wed Feb 7th, 19-2100?
* Thursday or Friday same?
* Sat Feb 10th, morning, afternoon, or night?

Wednesday and Friday leading slightly! I should mention you don’t need a login to say what date works for you :)

So Iteki, meijusa (and anyone else who pings the poll), what venue would you suggest? If there are less than six of us, can we get a spot there Friday night or should we say Wednesday?

Let’s say Wednesday, seven (I will be along a quarter past) and let’s say Vapiano in Skrapan. Super unexciting but has food and drink optiobs for everyone and a wide price span. First person to arrive can Take a decent size table and post in here.

Do we update this with the time and date or how does it work?

Ok, I’ll leg-wrestle with my mefite sambo about who stays at home with the kids and who can show up. I’ll check how to post it as definite, perhaps non-thread-polling Stockholmers get notified again and can join up.

After this dearth of mefi irl meetups in Stockholm, I have half a mind to swing to the other extreme and say we designate, say, first Wednesday of the month at 7pm at $place, put up a little mefi sign, and whoever shows up, shows up.

I'll just go ahead and post it as confirmed now.
