Hello, East Bay. Come meetup in Oakland on Sunday, January 16. I might be moving to your fair town and I will be there to check it out. Give me your Oakland sales pitch! Have discussions of real estate minutiae! Tell me about the unmentioned seekrits!
So I am visiting the Bay Area as part of my "should I move there" tour. With Afroblanco, I will be putting together a Mission meetup, but I am very interested in Oakland, too.
Oneirodynia has helpfully pointed me towards some spots and it seems like Luka's would be a good call—food, open in the afternoon, near BART. I was thinking something like 3 or 4 would be good.
What say you East Bay?

Maybe? I'm in a wedding in Oakland the day before, and hoping to leave on a month-long road trip within a day or two after.

I've heard myths that there have been such things as "East Bay meetups" in the past but have never witnessed one myself. I'm in.

I'm planning to be there if I'm not swamped with homework- pretty sure I can come by for at least one Lindemanns Framboise (the problem is usually that I don't want to do anything afterward that has to do with school). Looking forward to it!

I happened to walk by Luka's today.
People might want to know that between 2:30 and 5:30 they don't serve the full menu; they serve what a sign on the door described as a "limited bar menu". I don't think this is a problem, but it's probably worth knowing.

The server who brought me my fries @ the meetup just moved into my building a couple of days ago. "I remembered you," she said when I ran into her and her roomie schlepping their stuff in the front door "Because we don't get many people named Pirate coming in".
Absolutely up for more East Bay up-meetitude. Hardly got to converse with the far end of the table.
