Fri July 22 at 7:30 PM, Woodstock Apt.
SE 52nd Ave, Portland, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
Lets get together and watch some of Season 3 of Bojack Horseman. It will be available on Netflix starting this Friday the 22nd.
My husband and I would be happy to host, the only downside is we have a pretty small apartment, but we could possibly cram a bunch of us in and eat some snacks and enjoy some quality TV programming together. We are pretty open this Friday night or anytime this weekend...other dates optional too.

I'll give out our address via memail for those interested! Map shows general location.

Are you thinking about some marathon-ish sessions, or one ep a week?

I was envisioning watching somewhere from 2-6 episodes...more than that might be a bit too much for one go.

Hey, that could be fun! Friday would work fine for me and Secretariat, and hanging out at someone else's place sounds good.

I like the idea of a mini-marathon, too; whole season would be too much at a go, but just one ep would be a little silly. And if we do multiple mini-marathons, since it's just a Netflix thing pretty much anyone who wants to keep up or catch up if they can't make one of 'em can probably arrange to do so pretty easily.

I have an interest in this, and would love to meet some Portland MeFites! Of course I will need to catch up first.

This sounds like fun, but while I'm peripherally aware of the show I haven't actually seen more than a teaser or two. Is this the type of thing where jumping in without having watched two whole seasons would be no big deal, or would it leave me too lost/too far behind on complex/intertwining character and plot histories?

(Feel free to say "nah, you'd be lost" and I'll skip this meetup, no biggie)

Greg you'd probably want to catch up first if you had the time. But it'd be fun to hang out with you too, regardless- your call. I like meeting new people :-)

Strudel and I could do Friday if that worked for everyone. Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening are options too. We'd be happy to host if people thought it wouldn't be too uncomfortable- we have a small apartment in southeast and our couch is one of those gigantic beanbags that holds 3ish and we could also set up chairs (we have like 6) plus blankets and pillows or something for the floor...I think it could work. We have some wine and snacks too...

Heh, yeah, I'd say don't worry too much about it, Greg; you'll be lost on some back references, but this isn't Game of Thrones and most of the writing is riffy jokes and episodic arcs that'll work fine without context.

I am thumbs up for Friday but other weekend nights would work just as well for me if some other time coalesces as best for folks.

Friday would work great for me. I can bring beer/wine and snacks.

Ok I'm thinking 7:30pm, Friday unless everyone hates that time. Is there a way I can share my address to those coming without posting it all over the internet here? Apologies if this is something obvious I missed - first time making one of these meetups!

Maybe people could send you a me-mail to request the address if they think they're going to come?

Easiest way to keep it totally on the DL is to mefimail attendees; if you're more interested in just not having it live here forever, you can toss it in a comment and then just bug a mod to delete that comment after the meetup. Basically whatever you're comfortable with.

(When the site asks for an address, you can just put something like a local-ish landmark or intersection in instead of your actual address.)

Just a quick note for those coming Friday - there's a small parking lot at my complex but those spots are all assigned to residents. There is usually ample parking though on the side streets nearby. There's also a bus stop nearby too if that's easier. Thanks!

Haven't had a chance to catch up (and this weekend is pretty packed anyway). Have fun! Someday I will actually make one of these PDX events.

Thanks FireFountain and Strudel for inviting a bunch of strangers into your home - and inspiring me to rewatch seasons 1 and 2 again (after I finish 3).

Also, during all the scenes of BoJack's press interviews I kept imagining him on "Between Two Ferns," and Zach Galifianakis asking him what it was like for a horse to sleep with a cat.

Yeah, that was fun! Thanks for hosting, guys.

You're welcome. Thanks everyone for coming! We had fun watching Bojack with you all. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in perhaps August so we can discuss the whole season!! :-)

Thanks for a fun time- and so much food! I regret not being hungrier so I could eat it all.
