Sat August 13 at 7:00 PM, Revolutionario: North African Tacos
1436 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA, USA (Map & Directions)
Hello everyone! I'm going to be in LA for the first time in August, and I'm going to be there for 2 years pursuing a masters degree. My first priority, of course, is to meet Angeleno Mefites! I was thinking of going to Revolutionario: North African Tacos, because it looks yum! + cheap + good for groups. Also vegan/vegetarian friendly.

Welcome to L.A.! Where are you going to be living?

I'm definitely going to end up somewhere on the West side, as close to UCLA as possible. As for a specific place - I'm currently Google-ing and Craigslist-ing like crazy!

Cool! I'm at UCLA! I've been here for 17 years. If you have any questions, do feel free to me mail me.

Welcome to LA! Friends of mine were just telling me about the 626 night market. They love it, with a caveat: it is incredibly crowded and recommend going at 10 pm to avoid the crowds.

Also! Definitely check out Westside rentals and the big blue bus system is great. I just helped someone move to the Westside, send me a note if you're looking for specific tips.

We'll be going, although with the kiddos so we're a little less flexible on time. So I won't throw out any suggestions for times to meet, but if we can get ourselves there when the group is there we will definitely say hello.

Yeah, the 626 night market has been sheer insanity every time I've gone there. Good stuff can be found but you have to be able to tolerate enormous crowds in potentially sweltering heat. So I wouldn't exactly consider going there "chilling" out in any sense of the word. However, if you're into it it's great fun and full of food ranging from meh to incredible.

I live within 5 mins of Santa Anita -- let me know if I can help with anything.

I would love to go at 10 pm, nights > crowds for me.

Ohh man, I very nearly was able to go to the OC Night Market last month but things came up. I would like to eat all of the desserts please. And maybe some rainbow grilled cheese too...

I've been to both 626 and OC Night Markets. I would HIGHLY recommend going early, like be there when it opens at 4. Any of the popular stands (for example, anything with churros is in demand this year) have long 45 minute+ Disneyland-esque lines by 6-ish. The lines die down around 9 or 10 pm as well, but then there's the possibility of running out of food.

I also live in Westwood near UCLA! We don't trek outside of the westside that often, but if you wanted to meet somewhere in the Village I'd hella be down ;)

How about the 13th in the evening sometime? I'd be coming up from Orange County.

Alright, change of plans! I want to talk to and get to know y'all, and it sounds like 626 Night Market is not the best place to chill and hear other people.

I was searching on Yelp for places that are yum + cheap + good for groups, and Revolutionario: North African Tacos popped up! It's vegan/vegetarian friendly, and the reviews are amazing. Parking doesn't seem too hard. It also seems like a very LA restaurant, in its novel blending of 2 different cuisines.

If we get more than 5 people I can call and make a reservation.

I'm on the verge of closing on an apartment - things are starting to fall into place!

Welcome! I'm in Santa Monica and I'm often at UCLA, but always looking for stuff to do on the westside. I've been wanting to get Revolutionarios tacos forever so I think that's an excellent suggestion.

Psst, Westwood people: if you're playing Pokemon I found an actual Pokemon in the produce section of Ralphs.

Thanks, Room 641-A!

I'm spending my birthday evening tomorrow dropping incense in the middle of the Village, maybe at Broxton & Weyburn.

Welcome to LA! I've been to that place and can confirm its deliciousness. Well chosen!

Not sure whether that night will work, but will investigate!

Confirming my attendance! Bring on the tacos and conversation with local MeFiers! :)

Yipee! Looking forward to meeting you guys.

Not looking forward to additional reasons why LA traffic will be crazy. :-O

Hey! We're going to be sitting on the tables outside. I'll be wearing a wide brimmed straw hat.

We're sitting outside, and next door is Redeemer Community Partnership. They're playing and singing some sweet tunes!
