Interested in good conversation? Exploring ideas? Reading the odd article to jumpstart a thoughtful exchange? Then join us for the next Salon—now in Brooklyn—on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.
To: Those of you who've been following along at home (but have yet to peep) and those who have just stumbled across this event (and are cautiously curious), the Salon, now a five-month old, is loosely organized around an article and whatever ideas it provokes.
That means: It's not a debate, it's an exchange of ideas. It's not moderated, it's hosted. Not everyone likes all the articles, and probably not everyone reads them. Some folks talk a lot, some just a little, depending on how their spirit sways. Most of the Salonistas are Mefites, but it's not restricted to Mefites. (So although I'm announcing it here, and welcome Mefites, it's not a Metafilter Salon per se.) Ages range, as do interests, professions, metiers. We've even got a few diehards. Briefly: It's mellow, engaging, civilized. And, yeah, kinda fun.
If you're interested in joining us, please confirm it by emailing me. In your email, please include:
If you can join us, I'll email back the article for the evening and directions to the meeting. If you want to be emailed every time we have an event, I can also add your name to the Master List. Finally, yes, please feel free to bring a friend if you think they'd enjoy it. (Just let me know when you RSVP.)
