Attention Taters: The holidays are almost upon us. Let's figure out what our schedule for trivia is going to be! Update: Wed. Oct 28 is a go!
John and I have some schedule conflicts coming up, plus there is Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here are a few options for finishing up the year with Geeks Who Drink trivia at Joe Sent Me.
Option 1 Stay on Track:
Oct. 28
Nov. 11 (no John)
Nov. 25 (day before Thanksgiving)
Dec. 9
Dec. 23 (Wed. before Christmas)

Option 2 Avoid Holidays:
skip this week (Oct 28)
Nov. 4
Nov. 18 (no Kris & John, somebody else will have to post)
Dec. 2
Dec. 16
Jan. 6

NEW--Option 3 Avoid Holidays 2:
Oct. 28
Nov. 11 (no John)
Dec. 2
Dec. 16
Jan. 6
Or some other organization of days. Thoughts?

I vote for Avoid Holidays, but can live with either!

Out of all of those weeks, the only one I'm confident I can't make is the day before Thanksgiving. I know I have to travel for work sometime in December, but I forget the dates.

The day before Thanksgiving is obviously a terrible idea. Even those in town are likely to be preparing for the holiday.

I'd be fine with either arrangement. (If people are jonesing for their trivia fix, we could also do this week and next week.)

Oh, also, there's a good chance that I'll be out of town for work on the 18th.

Ok so I added a 3rd option based on the comments so far. This would mean skipping two weeks in a couple of cases to avoid holidays and times when several of us can't make it (12/18). What do you think?

Confirmed for trivia this week, leaning towards option 3 for the rest of the year.

I'll put in a vote for option 3.

I haven't been to trivia before, but would like to join y'all tonight! How does one find the Metafilter group? (Preferably without asking each group of people if they're from the internet, but I can do that too.)

We usually take two tables towards the back of the dining room, under the portraits of... people? I can never remember who they are.

Got a Sickmander here. Doesn't look like I'm gonna make it. Good luck, taters!

The people in the portraits are Paul Newman, Mick Jagger, and I Dean Martin I think. If that helps. Horace Rumpole has a picture in his profile page if you are trying to narrow down which nerdy looking people we are. We are leaving shortly so should be there in around 20 min.

Welcome new Taters!!

I'm here early, and DiscourseMarker's recollection of the pictures is accurate. Also, a warning, there is a gentleman on one of the other regular teams that looks just enough like HoraceRumpole that you could get confused if all you've seen is that small headshot. Our tables are to the right at the back of the bar.
