Cincinnati MeFites, I know you exist!

Sat December 6 at 4:00 PM, MadTree Taproom
5164 Kennedy Avenue, Cincinnati, OH, USA (Map & Directions)
I recently-ish moved back to my hometown, and it looks like there have only been a few IRL events here. If you're a Cincinnati MeFite, chime in, and let's drink beer and eat food from whatever food truck is parked outside MadTree.
MadTree is a fantastic local brewery with a great taproom. They usually have a food truck parked outside so you can get your eat on.

I am 100% on board with this for all the right reasons.

I'm in Columbus, but depending on the timing I might make it down!

Obviously depending on the date but I am certainly interested.

Depending on the date, I'd be interested!

OK, so in general what days work best for y'all? Weekday evenings, or weekends...?
posted by mostly vowels at 4:34 PM on November 8, 2014

In lexington, but I'm open to this.

I'm also in Columbus, so weekends are best for me.

Anything that's not a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday night works for me.

Sounds like weekends work best for folks. Let's go ahead and say Saturday December 6 at 4pm. Location TBD, suggestions?

Rhinegeist Brewery has tons of space and would be somewhat of a mini-attraction for the out of towners. Cons, not a lot of food choices.

Halfcut in OTR is a much smaller place but that might not matter at 4pm and it would be adjacent to a lot of food.

But really there are tons of choices.

I'll be out of town that weekend, unfortunately - but if the date works for everyone else, then have fun, guys! :)

BrewRiver Gastropub has tasty beer plus tasty food. Rheingeist - love them! We have had Mefi meetups at Arnolds in the past - always a good choice.

Hi! I'm in! We have soooooo many incredible food choices.

I'm going to ruminate while I wait for my chicken doner (Ali Baba on Redbank: go! So good! ) and I'll chime back in when I get back to work!

I love Rhinegeist too, but lack of food is an issue (though I do love that weird mustard-butter for the pretzels, mmm). I'm leaning towards Arnold's because I love the heated covered courtyard, or BrewRiver because it's very convenient for me! I'll post final details soon.

OK, tossing in another brewery option: there's Madtree, out near Pleasant Ridge. They are pretty spacious and always (in my experience) have a food truck camped in the parking lot.

Also never mind, butts, so many butts, I saw we settled on a Saturday but just found out I am working every Saturday afternoon-evening from now until January. Ignore me, but have fun, guys!

Just got an email from Brew River saying they'll host holiday parties for as few as 8 people, so that's feasible. If you want me to contact them, just say.

My boyfriend's dad is having some pretty serious health issues, so I'm not going to be able to commit to anything as we may end up in Yellow Springs at a moment's notice - but I'll keep a close eye on the thread and try to get out to wherever on the 6th!

tizzie, if you could check in with them, that'd be awesome!

Will do.

Sorry that took so long. Brew River doesn't open until 5. We can reserve for 5:00, or as an alternative, we could try Wiseguys - a cozy bar above Goodfella's Pizza in Mainstrasse (Covington) and although it seems insane with as cold as it is, the heated tents outside Eli's would be an option, and that's BYOB and family-friendly. Or Madtree! Also the tap rooms at 50 West or Listermann's..... (sorry if I'm just complicating things at this point. Feel free to call me at eight five nine, four zero nine, one five five seven.

Oooh! I love MadTree. I can call them in the next day or two to make sure they're not having any kind of private gig that day.

Confirmed! Scroll back up to the top for details. Can't wait to meet y'all, even if it's a small group.

Huzzah! And I can walk there.

The foodtruck will probably be Catch-A-Fire pizza. They've got a semi-permanent spot at MadTree now.
posted by tizzie at 7:03 AM on November 21, 2014

Mmmm, had some of the dough knot thingamabobs there recently from Catch a Fire.

Countdown to Saturday! Hoping that the folks who were in this thread early haven't forgotten.

Oh hey, I just remembered that this was happening! I'm glad I didn't miss the date. As luck would have it, I live just a couple miles away from MadTree. I've been wanting to check out the taproom for a while now, but haven't had a chance to get friends together to do it. Count me in.

Yes! tizzie, is there a way I can send a reminder?
posted by mostly vowels at 5:14 PM on December 4, 2014

I'm not sure, mostly vowels. I sent metafilter messages to several, urging them to come.

So what's the secret handshake to identify the group?
posted by mmascolino at 8:27 AM on December 6, 2014

I'm a white lady with curly hair, and will likely have on muddy hiking boots. Will post when I get there in case y'all are too shy to ask strangers whether they're from the internet.
