Movies at the Brattle on Sunday?

Sun September 14 at 6:00 PM, Brattle Theater
40 Brattle Street, Cambridge, MA, USA (Map & Directions)
The Brattle Theater has a really good set of movies coming up this Sunday, 2014/9/14: Sunset Boulevard at 1:00, Chinatown at 3:15 (these two can be seen as a double feature), Los Angeles Plays Itself at 6:00, and Repo Man at 9:30. Does anyone want to go see any of these movies in particular? I saw that Los Angeles Plays Itself was scheduled and was primarily interested in that, but I'd be happy seeing any of these, really. If you want to go, leave a comment saying what movie you'd like to see! EDIT: We're seeing Los Angeles Plays Itself at 6:00 on Sunday. See you all there!

I've never heard of Los Angeles Plays Itself but it sounds fascinating and I would see it!

I will be at the Repo Man screening.

I can't go, but yeah, Repo Man is amazing!

Oh my god I kind of want to see them all.

OK. So far, that's 3 definite votes for LAPI, counting mine, 1 for any of them, 1 for Repo Man, and 1 comment saying Repo Man is good. Add the "any" vote to all the counts and you get 4 LAPI vs 2 RM. Anyone else have any strong preferences?

DiscourseMarker and I are in for Los Angeles Plays Itself, which I once watched in a bunch of parts on YouTube, but would love to watch again more properly.

Well I'm legit considering just coming up and spending the entire day at the theater, cause all those films are amazing. (Well I'd never heard of LAPI before, but it sure sounds great.) And Repo Man is in 35mm! Holy crap!

I gotta haul my ass all the way from central CT, so it makes more sense to see a bunch of movies anyway and make it worthwhile. So... I'll mull it over for another day, but if I pull the trigger I'll just be around for whenever.

Do these shows sell out? Should I buy tickets online in advance?

These shows absolutely sell out — definitely buy ahead of time. Before setting up the event, I'll check with the Brattle to make sure our movie isn't already sold out. (Film nerds — bleh).

On that note, it sounds like the consensus is for LAPI. Am I wrong there?

Well I guess that forces my hand then. Ok, I just bought my tickets. I'm going to all 4 movies. So yeah, whenever the meetup happens, I'm there.

It'll be intense.

got my ticket for LAPI!

OK, I just called the Brattle. There are about 200 tickets left for Los Angeles Plays Itself. That said, make sure to get your tickets ahead of time, they do sell out. I'll set the event for Los Angeles Plays Itself at 6:00 on Sunday.

are we meeting outside the theater?

Works for me. I'll try to get to the area around 5:00 or so: If people want to meet up at a nearby coffee shop or something before the show, that would also be good.

I'd like to but I get off work at 5:30 and will probably be a little tight (but successful) in getting to the Brattle...would definitely do something after, though!

I'll be heading up there shortly to begin my marathon LA film session. I'll stick my nose into this thread after Sunset Blvd ends just in case any random MeFites see this and think at the last minute "Hey, yeah.. I would really like to see Chinatown this afternoon!"

Otherwise Chinatown should let out right around 5:30 so let me know where you guys are at and I'll come find you. Preferably something with food so I can refuel before LAPI. (I didn't know that was 3 hours long! Eep! This is going to be a real long haul for me.)

And threeants, you can always stay for Repo Man afterword. ^_^

Putzing around the house cleaning and picking apples this afternoon, but I might be interested if you guys decide to do dinner? Consider posting if you do?

I'll make sure to leave a comment in this thread to tell everyone whatever we've decided to do.

I'm in the Algiers Cafe upstairs from the Brattle Theater right now.

We grabbed part of a row. Not very full yet, though people are filtering in slowly.

Movie's over; it was really great. Everyone but me has either left the area or is preparing to watch Repo Man. Nice to meet you, Aznable, have a safe drive home.

I think the narrator of LAPI would make a great MeFite.

Ha! Sorry you missed it. The movie was good. If you find yourself with three free hours, there are definitely worse ways to spend them.
