"Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson — public intellectual, frequent talk-show guest and host of the radio show "Star Talk" and the Fox/National Geographic show Cosmos — will speak at Tulane University's McAlister Auditorium April 14 at 8 p.m." according to Gambit New Orleans. Free, so get there early.
We'll have dinner before or after, would love to have a little meetup then!

I already agreed to go with somebody, but he's not somebody I'm confident I want to show off to MeFi. He's not entirely on board with me and I'm trying to spend more time with him to help him get over that. I wouldn't want to open anybody else up to that kind of stuff when they wouldn't be expecting it. We'll see, though. I could probably do something before or after the lecture, depending.

How early are y'all planning to go? My teenagers are dying to see him but I'm worried we won't get in.

Someone on Reddit said they took off work to get there in the morning to wait all day. Before I read that I wasn't all that worried. Now I'm not so sure.

Well, I was planning on being there at 7 pm, and having dinner at The Rum House on Magazine afterwards. Now it looks like we'll try to get there earlier!

I actually got distracted with drinking and friends at Shogun and Lager's in Metairie and didn't go!
