I'll be in town from 2/27-3/1 (maybe 3/2, too) for the Lesbians Who Tech summit! I'm staying in the Castro and will have a car. Anyone else going to the conference? Anyone wanna meet up?

I am not in tech but I am always down for coffee/drinks/food.

I won't be going to the conference but I live here and am a lesbian and I like coffee and food and drinks, so if there's an evening/after work thing, I'd go to that.

I'll be driving up Thursday, hoping to arrive before rush hour. There's a 'welcome' happy hour at 6, somewhere, on the 27th. The bulk of the conference is on Friday, with optional events Saturday and Sunday. I'm not certain I'm interested in the optional events which likely leaves all Saturday free, and if I stay Saturday night, Sunday too.
I'm staying at Beck's Motor Lodge. Maybe one of you locals can suggest a cool place to go?

I think I want to do the Hackathon, but there were no Generalist passes left, and I am not qualified in the other areas. Also, staying that extra night pushes my budget a little.

I applied for, and was awarded a discounted scholarship ticket. =D

I'm in. I've shirked enough IRLs over the years. I'm all out of excuses. Any place for food or drinks in the Castro is going to be a good choice. Sometimes I miss living there.

How BART-accessible is that area? I, um, am not very familiar with San Francisco neighborhoods.

We're in town and happy to meet up! We're going to roller derby and possibly another social event on Saturday (and I'm speaking at another conference during the day) so Friday evening works best for us, or Sunday during the day. I used to live on that block and have many opinions about places to meet up, but it depends on time as some work better for earlier in the day and others are better for evening.

The Castro is not at all BART accessible. You'll need to make use of the MUNI light rail, which shares stations with BART downtown. 511.org is where I plan my multi-transit trips.

...oh. Well then.

I think SliderBar sounds great! Centrally located, good food, beers...

What night works best? Thurs/Fri/Sat?

I get back in town on the 27th and would love to meet up! Marking as Maybe for now.

ApathyGirl: I'm staying at Beck's Motor Lodge.

Uh. That was an infamous venue, wasn't it? Maybe it's changed.

As for BART, you can take the Muni K, L, and M trains to the Castro, or the F streetcar above ground. I'd suggest switching at Embarcadero, Montgomery, or Powell stations. (Basically, not Civic Center. It's not as nice.)

Well, I have both Friday and Saturday off now, so either one works for me. I'm fine with anything evening-ish, as long as it doesn't start too late.

How about Saturday, around 6?

Hey, I'm a lesbian who techs! Too bad I've already committed to a daylong Behat workshop on Friday, or I'd check out the summit. Put me down as a Maybe for the meetup.

I'm good with Saturday. It's probably easier for those who are traveling a distance. Friday rush hours are always a pain.

...oh. Well then.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to scare you! Transferring between BART and Muni downtown isn't much different from transferring between BART trains. The Muni is just like BART only a teensy tiny bit slower.

I will be oot and aboot this afternoon for errand-running purposes but will try to make it to the meetup tonight. My cellphone is not smart enough to access the internet, so if I get to the venue first I will be the obvious non-lesbian in a black hat with a messenger bag full of books.
