(The Rt Hon.) MP and I will be visiting Vermont on Saturday, February 23 (staying overnight in Windsor). We would love to meet area mefites (including those from New Hampshire, as I understand we will be on the border) that afternoon or evening someplace nearby. Would you do us the honor of joining us? (And would you do us the favor of suggesting a good place to meet?) Update: time and location chosen! 2pm, Whetstone Station, Brattleboro.

I will put this on my calendar, but attendance will depend on two things: 1) whether the community radio project I am working on launches that day. Our plan is to have an open house, and I am on the board, so must show. 2) I am pretty sure that night is a birthday party for a friend (who is also a MeFite) in Northfield.

As for places to go, I must admit I am yet to visit fair Windsor, but I do know Harpoon brewery has a beer garden there. Not sure what the hours are. The town's website has some dining options listed.

Might I suggest Brattleboro as a gathering place? That might attract more people from Western Massachusetts too, as it's a straight shot up route 91. I feel as though I may have a conflict that day, but I don't have my calendar handy at the moment. I will watch this thread with interest!

Unfortunately I am raising a glass to my friend up the street from you guys in South Royalton. If you'd like to come out to the beer/burger event, you are warmly welcome. I'd love to see you somehow in any case.

Why don't we do the meetup in Brattleboro in the afternoon, then, and then Josh and I will make our way up to see Jessamyn.

Anyone have suggestions for where to go in Brattleboro in the afternoon?

Frig. I'd love to meet up but am out of town that weekend.... Have fun! And enjoy Brattleboro! (or, if you want really awesome food and a less totally crowded, but still very charming and full of good walking and browsing town, Bellows Falls). BF has Popolo AND the beautifully curated antique center!

Gah! As it turns out I have conflicts on top of my conflicts that day, so I won't be able to make it either.

(If you do go with Brattleboro, Whetstone Station looks like the sort of place MeFites tend to like, but not having been there yet I can't offer any testimonials.)

I think we will be going with Brattleboro. Whetstone Station sounds good, but reviews say it's really crowded on weekends. Anyone know about McNeill's Brewery?

Anyone know about McNeill's Brewery?

I stay away from their bottled beers because they are so inconsistent. Never been to the brewery.

Beer Advocate also gives Whetstone a higher rating. Works for us!

But wait! If you act now and come to The Worthy Burger on Saturday night to see Jessamyn you will also get to meet terrapin and turtlegirl -- and a few other MeFites too.

We are planning to come! We'll be doing the meetup in Brattleboro in the afternoon, then making our way to the B&B to check in and drop off our bags, then we'll be on over.

We had a great time! Roads were totally clear today (other than a State Trooper near Springfield who decided to pull us over--with a warning--for going five miles over the speed limit). We had lunch at a vegan place in Brattleboro.

We're back home in Brooklyn now, and we look forward to the next time we can see y'all in Vermont!
