People of northern Virginia! Too long have the meetups in our area been centralized in the District of Columbia. Too long have we been asked to take 45-minute Metro rides on weeknights if we want to interact with our fellow MeFites! But on March 15, we take back our region! Or at least meet up for dinner and/or drinks in Herndon!
The location is Carpool, a restaurant and bar with options for pool and darts if we feel like it, or just hanging around until whenever if we don't. I've set the time for 5:30 PM as a general estimation, but the idea seems to be to just head there after work, whenever "after work" is for you. See you there!

My friend and I have been eyeing this new taphouse that's opening up in Cascades(Sterling).

We have needed one of these meet ups for a while!

Excellent idea. I find Carpool in Herndon works great as a happy-hour meeting place.

I'm in. Work in Sterling, live in Leesburg, so "Reston area" is fine. Down to Tysons would work as well, but since backupjesus suggested it I'll second - Carpool in Herndon is a great happy hour place.

Anybody not okay with Carpool? I work in Arlington so I'll probably arrive a bit late, but I can definitely do it.

If the location is good, we can start working out a time.

I live very close to Tysons so I'd be all for that, but I'm flexible on location. Timing is tougher for me; generally, weekdays are much better for me -- perhaps a Thursday night?

Last year, I recall w e had a weeknight meetup in Alexandria where three people showed up; hopefully we can do better than that!

I would so love to do this because I've never yet met any MeFites IRL. Please, not Wednesday nights as that's my teaching night. (Unless it's March 13 during spring break.) I'm coming from near Fair Oaks so Reston/Herndon is OK with me.

I'm in Reston, and in.

I work a goofy schedule so I can only hope I'll be available, but if I'm free I will be there with proverbial bells on. Carpool sounds worth a visit.

Carpool is a cool place, though I admit I'm nervous about meeting Mefites IRL.

Maybe I can just lurk everyone's conversations and walk around the bar sticking post-its with "Favorite Added!" on them to people when they make good points.

I don't want to be That Girl, but I can't make the 15th. I would happy commit to showing up on Tuesday the 12th or Thursday the 14th.

(No hurt feelings from me if y'all want to maintain Friday evening, though.)

That sounds fine to me, best to give people some time to get there after work anyway (and I'll be driving from Crystal City, so probably won't arrive any earlier).

And unless there are any objections by the end of the day, I'm going to switch this to confirmed.

I like you guys, but not enough to drive from Fredericksburg to Herndon in Friday traffic. I start work in Tysons on the 18th, so next time I'll already be in the neighbourhood.

Still working on the babysitting. However, this meetup has at long last inspired Mr. Selfmedicating to join mefi, so I'm happy about that. At the very least, one of us will be at this meetup. I'm thinking the one with the lower user number...
