Any Hudson Valley mefites up for a meet-up?

Mr. WanKenobi and I have been in the New Paltz area for over a year now and it's about time we meet some awesome friends of matt! Meeting in New Paltz proper would be easiest for us (Cafe-teria has enough space for a casual meet-up--and maybe some board games?), but we'll happily travel to nearby towns or across the Hudson if that works for other area Mefites. Perhaps something in early September?

So we have one vote for Hopewell Junction--I'm afraid I don't know that town at all, but of course am willing to travel. Any objections or else suggestions for a cool place we could meet there?

Hopewell Junction's venues are limited; apart from Goodfellas Inn, there's Muscoot North (located near an awkward intersection along the Taconic State Parkway), Pizza Village (part of the main strip of Hopewell), and Daddy O's (a steakhouse which has the advantage of being situated near the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, but would be better for an all-day walk-a-thon, as that portion of the trail is 8 1/2 miles in length). I'd suggest Poughkeepsie as a surrogate, as it would provide more direct access to the MTA Hudson Line, should Eideteker or Skygazer end up taking the train. River Station is a hop away from the Poughkeepsie MTA stop, and the restaurant has a patio overlooking Walkway Over the Hudson and the FDR Mid-Hudson Bridge. (In fact, it might be an ideal choice if people want to check out the 2 1/2 mile Walkway prior to its evening closing.) If necessary, I could carpool 3 other people along to New Paltz, which would allow me to pick up anyone in Hopewell, New Hamburg Station, or Poughkeepsie. Cafe-teria is nice, as well as Neko Sushi (there's another in Wappingers) or even The Greco-Roman Temple on Chestnut Street, whose name was bound to pop up in any thread concerning New Paltz.

Smart Dalek, that's an amazing offer. I think either Poughkeepsie (for its central locale) or New Paltz (better restaurants--Bacchus has every kind of beer ever) might be the way to go, personally. Would anyone else want to weigh in? We should also consider dates--any upcoming weekend works for me. I'd tentatively suggest Sunday the 9th just as an option to float out there.

Hey, Looks like the 9th is out for me vis a vis it being Open Art Studios weekend in Brooklyn-Town, and promised I'd visit a bunch of em. But I'm certainly up for some other time, and I love Bacchus, some of my favorite moments in my life took place there many many moons ago. Smart Dalek, Let's speak soon, either way.

1000 Curses. I've been on MeFi every day for 2 years (every day) -- and just exactly when I got too distracted by medical stuff eating up all my time for a couple of weeks, there's a meet-up in New Paltz. (I'm between NP and Kingston.) So I hope you're planning to do it again -- I'd do my bestest to be there. Anyway, it's good to know some of you are close by.
