Mars Curiosity Landing in Times Square!

The Toshiba screen at One Times Square will be broadcasting live coverage of the Curiosity rover landing on Mars, and my household of MeFites will be in attendance. What about the rest of you? Who will stand beside us as we elbow tourists out of the way and endure seven minutes of terror?

The broadcast runs from 11:30PM until 4AM, and the landing is scheduled to take place at 1:30AM. I plan to be out there for most, if not all, of that time! We'll probably be loitering in the bar at the Crowne Plaza until 11 or so, drinking overpriced cocktails and trying not to panic.

Yes, and their website is now strangely sad and lonely. (I had a friend who took her nephew there years ago, when it first opened. She left wanting to kill all humans, starting with whoever had built the restaurant.)

I'll be there for a while! As I turn into a pumpkin at about 11:00 PM, it'll be interesting. Just set me on a stable flat surface and I'll probably be fine until about 2:00.
