Metafilter v Reddit – The Olympic Edition

It's been a long time since we last locked horns with Reddit – too long. Let's break the drought! The last two routs have happened at the Monday night quiz at the Hat and Tun in Clerkenwell, and I'm quite fond of the place now – shall we stick to it? I've already floated the idea to the guys at Reddit, and they'd be up for Monday 6 August – and there is availability at the Hat and Tun then, too. What do you all think? Monday 6 August it is! See you all by 7ish for a 7.30 kick-off.

I'd love to come to one of these quizzes but I have to go into the office (via Stratford & Canary Wharf) that day and the thought of having to navigate the Olympic throngs four times in one day is just too much to bear. Ordinarily I could drive to Clerkenwell, but that's not an option during the Olympics. Next time, though.

...are extras allowed? Sure! All Mefites, friends of Mefites, SOs of Mefites etc etc are welcome. As for recognizing us on the night, some of us no doubt will be wearing our nifty MeFi badges (created by Metafilter's own Grangousier), but we'll probably have some kind of notice on one of the tables as well. The Hat and Tun's quite small and totally given over to the Pub Quiz on Mondays, so you won't have to trawl through scores of people before you find us anyway. Chichibio – I had no idea contacts could amend each other's tags. Interesting.

Easy, tigre. Everyone has to be happy about the Olympics now because Becks on a motorboat! I must admit I softened a little having the best seat in the city for the final fireworks, a rooftop in Hackney Wick. All the outdoor bits were perfectly aligned to our position and it was pretty great.
