I'm singing in a new opera, The Daisy Chain, which is taking place as part of the Tête à Tête Festival at the Riverside Studios on 2 and 3 August at 9pm. (The opera is only about an hour long.) Tickets are a princely £6 and can be booked here.

I was cast on the 15th and have had two weeks to memorise this entire piece; it's been a bit crazy, but I have grown very fond of the opera and the role. I play a marriage therapist to a royal couple whose firstborn child has been stolen by a goblin. The music, by composer Toby Young, is weirdly beautiful. Good things about this festival: - Its format is multiple short pieces throughout the evening from about 6.30, so if you rock up early there'll be a choice of interesting things to see, including some free stuff in the foyer. - The Riverside Studios Bar is a great place to hang out - they have a balcony overlooking the river and, if memory serves, they have board games. And food. - It's at the opposite end of town from the Olympics, so getting there ought to be relatively OK. Nearest Tube is Hammersmith. - According to the festival's publicity page, you can "come dressed as a princess or a frog and get in for free."

This sounds great, but to get there (and home) I'd have to travel right through the Olympic Park, so unfortunately I'll have to say no :-(

A delightfully dark psychodrama, very crisply sung. I liked the vibe of the Riverside Studios too.
