Philadelphia Quizzo Night

Wed August 1 at 7:00 PM, Black Sheep Pub
247 S 17th St, Philadelphia, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
We haven't had a Philadelphia meetup in a while. How about a Quizzo night?
I'm going to show up at the Black Sheep by 7 p.m. and will wait outside until a couple of other people show up so that we can put our names in for a table. Trivia starts at 8.

Please let me know if you plan to be there and what time you think you'll arrive. I want to make sure we get a big enough table before other groups show up and claim all the good spots!

I don't know if I'd be able to make it out (though I like the idea) but I can put in a general recommendation for Johnny Goodtimes' quizzos. I used to go every Wednesday to Black Sheep, but he's all over the city.

I have never been to a MeFi meetup, but Quizzo seems like a pretty good way to meet Strangers From The Internet! I'd be down.

Ohhhh! I would love to do a Quizzo night, and would be content with National Mechanics (or elsewhere, really).

I'd do Quizzo! I'm not strongly attached to any one place for it--National Mechanics seems as good as any.

Oh, Black Sheep is even more convenient for me than National Mechanics - how crowded does it get there for Quizzo, supercres? (Crescent fresh username, by the way.)

Does anyone have a preference on Rittenhouse at 8 p.m. vs. Old City at 9? Either way, I would suggest that at least some of us show up an hour early to make sure we have a table.

I have a conflict for next Wednesday so I'm going to suggest that we aim for August 1. Does that sound good to everyone else?

As a reminder in case it makes a difference to anyone, there is (unadvertised) free street parking in Center City on Wednesday nights, so you should be able to drive in and park for free at either location.

Rittenhouse at 8 would be way easier for me, but I've never been to a meetup before so I'd try to make either one!

It does get crowded, and Black Sheep isn't a huge place. Showing up an hour early is recommended, and they've been known to not give out tables until at least half of the party arrives.

If you want a place where it's easier to get a spot, you want City Tap House. He usually mentions on Twitter whether it'll be held inside or outside.

Also, max team size is 8.

I would go. I am fond of both beer and winning prizes for otherwise useless knowledge.

(Realized it's 8 p.m. in either location. Not sure how I decided National Mechanics was 9 at some point between yesterday and today.)

I'm going to confirm this for Black Sheep on August 1 if there are no major complaints about that location/date. Max team size of 8 is good because I think a lot of places cap it at 6, and I work right by the Black Sheep so I don't mind showing up there plenty early as long as enough of the group is willing to join me by 7 so that we can make sure they give us a table.

Count me in. Rittenhouse works best for me.

I don't think I'll be able to make this one but we really must have more Philly meetups! Barcade has TMNT now...

Hi, this is Ryan- I might be able to make this; it's a toss-up between it and the Bowie thing at International House.

Tonight's the night! Since we might not be able to get a table until at least part of our group has arrived, I'll wait outside the Black Sheep, south of the door, at 7 p.m. I'll be the short lady wearing a white-and-grey blouse and blue jeans. There's a picture of me on my profile.

I'm hoping to avoid holding a sign while I'm outside, but after the first couple of people show up, we'll move inside and I'll put a sign on our table. I'll update again with information about our table location once we get seated.

Oh. Also. From Johnny Goodtimes's website: "I’d expect to see a few Olympics questions, as well as a few about England."

I have not been watching the Olympics at all. Quick, everybody, learn all the things about the Olympics! And England!

I'm here. Black shirt, outside.

We couldn't get a table and it's super loud. We are moving to Ladder 15 (1500 block of Sansom) for drinks. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread, so if anyone else is trying to join us, leave a message here.

JUST KIDDING we're at Nodding Head (also 1500 block of Sansom). We have a big table all the way in the back (go up the stairs and keep walking down the hall). Huge apologies to anyone still looking for us. Center City Sips is making everything difficult.

I am so, so sorry if anyone tried to meet us at Black Sheep and couldn't find us. We have learned an important lesson, which is that Center City meetups are probably a bad idea, especially on Wednesdays in the summertime during Center City Sips. Nodding Head turned out to be great, though. Thanks to (in order of appearance) jetlagaddict, scalefree, troublewithwolves, and mlk for coming out tonight and putting up with the confusion. We'll plan something else soon!
