The premiere of a play I wrote about Oscar Wilde, as part of a long series of events concerning Wilde. I will be speaking about the process of creating the play on Tuesday ay 9pm.
"From Barbarism to Decadence" details the period in Wilde's life when he was in the process of inventing Oscar Wilde as a public figure -- arguably the first modern celebrity. Structured as one of the lectures Wilde gave in America at the dawn of his career, Wilde takes audience members through the techniques and the pitfalls of focusing one's genius on self-invention. More info about the play and literary festival.
